As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Systems Engineer who takes ownership of client environments, delivers consistent technical outcomes, and proactively improves how systems perform over time.
This role goes beyond reactive support. It’s about maintaining environments properly, resolving issues at their root cause, and ensuring technology consistently works as it should.
The Opportunity - can be based in our Hawke's Bay or Palmerston North office
As a Systems Engineer, you will deliver reliable, secure, and well‑managed technology environments across multiple clients. Your focus spans incident management, service delivery, and ongoing improvement—ensuring each environment performs at its best.
You will:
Deliver technical support and engineering across client environments (onsite and remote)
Respond to and resolve incidents with a structured, methodical approach
Take ownership of escalations through to resolution, ensuring strong communication throughout
Perform system maintenance, patching, and routine health checks
Identify and resolve recurring issues through root cause analysis
Implement system changes, upgrades, and improvements in line with best practice
Maintain clear, accurate documentation to support consistency and continuity of service
Contribute to knowledge sharing and support effective team escalations
Apply automation and repeatable processes to improve efficiency
Build strong client relationships through professional communication and delivery
What Success Looks Like
Client environments are stable, secure, and enable reliable day-to-day business operations
Incidents and escalations are resolved efficiently with minimal disruption
Systems improve over time, with recurring issues addressed at their root cause
Root causes are identified and resolved - not repeatedly worked around
Documentation is clear, accurate, and supports consistent, predictable service delivery
Clients and internal teams have confidence in you and Yorb’s capability and follow-through
About You
You’re a capable, hands‑on engineer who takes pride in delivering quality outcomes and solving problems properly—not just quickly.
You bring:
2–4 years’ experience in ICT support or systems engineering
Experience working across multiple client environments (MSP experience highly regarded)
Strong troubleshooting capability with a structured approach to problem solving
Experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, wireless)
Exposure to Microsoft Azure and cloud‑based infrastructure
Experience supporting Windows desktop and server environments
Understanding of core security practices (e.g. MFA, endpoint management)
Ability to follow process, document work clearly, and deliver to a consistent standard
Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
A proactive mindset—looking for ways to improve systems, not just maintain them
